Liz McMurray is studying in Turkey

Elizabeth McMurray  was awarded one of 15 Princeton University Fellowships under the auspices of the American Research Institute of Turkey and the American Association of Teachers of Turkic (Turkish Language Programs) to study advance Turkish at Bogaziçi University in Istanbul.  Liz is only one of three undergraduate students and the youngest recipient to study this summer. Liz is a Junior at Mercyhurst College majoring in Language and World Culture.  She has been studying Spanish, Turkish and Arabic there. The Fellowship included travel, tuition, expenses and 4 trips while she was in Turkey for this seven week program.  The program is equivalent to a year's study of advance Turkish.   Liz learned Turkish during her Rotary Exchange year in Izmir, Turkey in 2005-2006. .

Update:  Liz is is exploring all over Istanbul and vicinity and is doing very well in her studies.  She comments that her already awesome Turkish language skills have reached a new level. Starting next week she'll travel for 2 extra weeks with her friend, McMurray Travel agent Jackie Favret, traveling all over Turkey, including her beloved Izmir.

Polar Bears Are On The Move Again

Eastern Caribbean — Carnival Glory

Oct. 11, 2009

North High School Alumni Polar Bears are on the move…again!

And you can join them!

We're already accepting reservations, and deposits, for their NEXT group cruise, after their successful sailing this year!  Even if you're not a Polar Bear, you can still sail aboard the Carnival Glory next October 11th.  It's an exotic Eastern Caribbean itinerary, stopping at Half-Moon Cay (private island), St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk, along with giving you two relaxing days at sea.  The Glory, a newer ship, is indeed a fantastic resort-at-sea.

ou'll be personally escorted by Sally Wisecarver, our most-experienced cruise escort, an ACC (Accredited Cruise Counselor).   And if you've never sailed before, Sally's an expert at preparing first-time cruises to get the most from their time at sea.  She provides a comprehensive informational talk, and is readily available to answer all your personal questions, too, at any time before the cruise.  She makes you aware of all your options on board, so you'll spend less-time wandering around the ship and missing those extra-special treats that can be found around the corner.  She'll be travelling with her husband, Bruce, a North High Alumni himself!  Call Sally at our office at 614-899-1979.  She'll be delighted if you join her!

Stuff You Should Read

Airline Seats & Cruises

The airlines and the cruise lines have had long term love-hate relationship, which is now starting to affect our clients. If you use the Cruise Lines air YOU will be responsible for getting your own seat assignments.  We do not get the tickets or flight schedule until shortly before departure, so we CANNOT guarantee seat assignments which allow you sit with you family. If this is important we recommend you purchase separate air and leave a day earlier. The advantage of buying the air from the Cruise line is you can fly the same day and it includes transfers to the ship.  Also make sure your frequent flyer numbers are in the record when you check in.

Airline Ticketing Limitations

McMurray Travel Service is a full service IATAN and ARC accredited ticketing agency.  However we do restrict ourselves in what tickets we do sell and reserve the right to not sell certain areas of the world and certain airlines which we feel are unstable and which place our clients and our business at a risk. We reserve the right to not issue airline tickets to anyone we chose as airline tickets are non-revenue items. When we do chose to issue tickets we will charge a fee for that service. The fee is based on the amount of time and effort required to issue the ticket. We do not issue tickets on any airline voucher,  coupon or any other offer tendered directly by the airline. Go to the airline who issued the voucher to redeem those.  McMurray Travel Service or it's agents and contractors are not responsible for airline delays or missed connections caused by airline schedule changes or delays or medical conditions caused by aircraft equipment. .  It is the passenger's responsibility to reconfirm his airline flights before departure.
