PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AIRLINE TRAVEL
Review tickets, itinerary, paperwork/documentation carefully! Verify dates, airports, spelling of names, and all pertinent details! There may be cancel and change fees; adhere to all change/cancellation deadlines and requirements stated in brochures/documents, etc. It is each traveler’s responsibility to read all information.
McMURRAY TRAVEL SERVICE STRONGLY RECOMMENDS TRAVEL INSURANCE. Insurance covers many medical and emergency situations, and you might qualify for pre-existing condition waivers; some policies offer this if purchased within 7 days of making initial payments for land, cruise, flight arrangements, etc. With all policies, not all suppliers and/or situations are covered. Read your actual policy for full details/explanation of coverage.
NEW SECURITY MEASURES: Get to the airport two hours prior to departure for domestic travel, two-and-a-half for international, as you may encounter long lines and check-in delays. Be prepared for hand inspection of all carry-on luggage, body wand or pat-down search, and possible checked-baggage inspection. New carry-on restrictions apply for sharp implements although these may be put in your checked luggage. Only ticketed passengers are allowed past security checkpoints. Curbside check-in may be prohibited. No off-airport baggage check-in at other venues. You MUST have a printed receipt or confirmation for electronic (E-tickets) tickets.
IMPORTANT NOTICE! Due to seasonal airline schedule changes, or airline-generated needs, actual flight numbers and/or times may vary from your original ticket. If possible, we will notify you in advance of these changes. However, you or we may not learn of these changes unless you reconfirm with the airlines at least 24 hours prior to your travel dates. If there are changes to your ticket, at airport check-in simply notify the agent your ticket MAY need to be "re-issued" due to a schedule change. WE HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION SOME AIRLINES ARE NOT ADVISING TRAVEL AGENTS OR PASSENGERS OF CHANGES WHICH CAN VARY YOUR FLIGHT TIMES AS MUCH AS 30 MINUTES FROM THOSE ORIGINALLY BOOKED! Therefore, it is imperative you re-confirm directly with each airline prior to each flight/travel date. Upon arrival you should call the airline and give them a local contact number where you can be reached if there are changes to your return flights.
DOCUMENTATION: U.S. Citizens over 18 years old MUST show a valid government-issued PHOTO I.D. such as a U.S. Driver's License for domestic flights. Some cruise lines require government- issued photo I.D. for travelers 16 and 17 years old. Your name on your ticket MUST match exactly this identification. For international travel some countries (usually Canada, Mexico, and most of the Caribbean) only require an original birth certificate (with a raised seal impression) along with a Driver's License and proof of return transportation and sufficient funds (or pre-paid arrangements) to cover your stay. Most other countries require a current U.S. Passport; others may also require a visa. It is your responsibility to comply with all entry requirements and to have proper documentation. Some countries may require visas just for a connection flight stopover. If not a U.S. Citizen, tell us immediately when buying international tickets. Single parents, one parent traveling alone with a child, or friends/relatives taking children other than their own internationally need notarized permission/medical permission (with travel dates) from ALL parents to take the child
NON REFUNDABLE DOMESTIC TICKETS can USUALLY be re-used on the same airline by the same traveler within two years from date of issuance; individual airlines vary. You can POSSIBLY change your return date/time for a minimum fee of $100.00 if you meet minimum/maximum stay requirements (subject to availability). Changes to outbound dates/times and/or city means you re-calculate to the current fare and pay change fees plus any additional cost. Always verify appropriate rules and possible fees BEFORE making changes to your itinerary.
ELECTRONIC "E" TICKETS: Show a Driver's License (or government-issued photo I.D.) at check-in along with E-ticket receipts. You'll get boarding passes; save these as proof for frequent flyer miles, luggage claims, or business and tax purposes. If you do not travel, either claim the unused flight coupons, either directly from the airline or from McMurray Travel for possible refund/future exchange, or make careful note of the length of time the unused ticket is good for. E-tickets "expire" and disappear from airlines' computers after a certain time (individual airline rules vary).
BOARDING PASSES/SEATING: Travel Agents can no longer issue boarding passes, nor can we always get advance seat assignments; we do so if possible. Since the airlines now "block" out many seats for release ONLY on day of departure by airport personnel, we suggest you arrive early for your seat selection.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: Check-in at least 2-1/2 hours prior to flights. You MUST reconfirm return flights at least 72 hours prior to travel or the airlines will automatically cancel your return flights. If on an organized trip the tour company may do this for you. Ask if it’s being done, as it is your responsibility. Bag weight and size are more limited. Once you get overseas stricter rules apply, usually 62 inches (height + length + width) maximum. Smaller planes may have even stricter rules. Call your international airline for current information. International tickets may have severe cancel/change penalties so verify all possibilities before requesting a change be made. You must make changes before any scheduled travel date. Check www.travel.state.gov for current warnings and announcements about international travel, as well as important web site links.
RENTAL CARS: You MUST have a valid U.S. driver's license and major credit card; debit cards do not qualify. A Debit Card may be accepted at time of return. Price quote does NOT include airport access fees, personal accident insurance, collision damage waivers, state/local/road use taxes, license fees, and more, which may total up to 28% or more; ask if optional/mandatory. Other costs may apply if you are under 25, over 65, have a poor driving record, or rent specialty vehicles. Ski racks, child seats, car phones, global positioning units, etc. can be reserved in advance and may cost more. Car make/model is NOT guaranteed. Special terms/conditions may apply to specialty cars (sport vehicles, luxury cars, vans). Ask at check-in. Bring written proof of rental car coverage your credit card/auto insurance provides. If rental car is off-airport, go to Baggage Claim; follow signs for courtesy buses, or courtesy phones. If a van/luxury/specialty model has a credit card guarantee, you MUST cancel by specified deadlines to avoid financial penalties. Rates are based on a 24-hour clock so fees apply for extra minutes/hours you have the car.
HOTELS: If your itinerary says "guaranteed" either your credit card provided a guarantee (or a one-night deposit) or a check payment was sent. If you do not show up at the hotel, or fail to cancel before the deadline, you'll pay for at least one night. USUALLY, the cancel deadline is before 4 or 6 p.m. on arrival day; however, for any reason, or during holidays, peak seasons, at convention hotels, at resort areas or major cities, hotels may require 2, 5, 7 or even 14 days notice! Be aware of your cancellation deadlines and adhere to them; if unsure, phone the hotel in advance to verify YOUR cancellation policy. Advance cancellation is the responsibility of the traveler.
GENERAL TRAVEL NOTES: All tickets are non-transferable. Always keep boarding pass stubs, passenger ticket receipts, and luggage claim slips; these may be needed for baggage problems, frequent flyer verification, and tax or business purposes. Although we may have sent your frequent flyer numbers ahead of time by computer, ALWAYS ask at check-in to be sure it entered correctly; some get rejected for minor differences, such as Mrs. vs. Ms., etc.
Carry-on bags may be limited to only one item each plus one purse/computer/diaper bag. Luggage allowance varies greatly by destination, size of plane, and individual airline. Call individual airlines’ reservation numbers for full details. Over-size and overweight bags may incur high additional costs. Put contact information INSIDE your suitcase as well as outside, plus specific itinerary info. If luggage is delayed or lost, try to get a local phone number for luggage help; on-the-spot help is often more effective than calling an 800 Help Desk.
OVERBOOKING OF FLIGHTS: Airline flights may be overbooked, and there is a slight chance that a seat will not be available on a flight for which a person has a confirmed reservation. See the official “Notice-Overbooking of Flights” paper attached to your ticket for full details. Always arrive early for check-in at the airport to reduce your chances of being denied a seat. With few exceptions persons denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation.
COMPANION FARES: Require both people check-in and travel together; one passenger must be 18.
SENIOR DISCOUNTS may require proof of age upon check-in at hotels, airports, car rentals, etc.
CHANGE OF GAUGE: "Some flights may have you change aircraft en route even though your ticket may show only one flight number and have only one flight coupon for that flight. Further, one of your flights may not be identified at the airport by the number on your ticket, or it may be identified by other flight numbers in addition to the one on your ticket. At your request, the seller of this ticket will give you details of your change of aircraft, such as where it will occur and what aircraft types are involved."
McMurray Travel Service is a full service IATAN and ARC accredited ticketing agency. However we do restrict ourselves in what tickets we do sell and reserve the right to not sell certain areas of the world and certain airlines which we feel are unstable and which place our clients and ours business at a risk. We reserve the right to not issue airline tickets to anyone we chose as airline tickets are non-revenue items. When we do chose to issue tickets we will charge a fee for that service. The fee is based on the amount of time and effort required to issue the ticket. We do not issue tickets on any airline voucher, coupon or any other offer tendered directly by the airline. Go to the airline who issued the voucher to redeem those. McMurray Travel Service or it's agents and contractors are not responsible for airline delays or missed connections caused by airline schedule changes or delays. It is the passenger's responsibility to reconfirm his airline flights before departure.
