Hawaii, 4 Islands, One Week

Easy, Relaxing and Reasonable

Jeanne McMurray and Sally Wisecarver  tackle Hawaii on NCL's Pride of Hawaii

Want to see the highlights of the Hawaiian islands but can't spare two weeks?  Do like Jeanne and Sally Wisecarver, our ACC (Accredited Cruise Counselor) did!  They flew into Honolulu one day early, then took the 7-day NCL Pride of Hawai'i island-hopping cruise!  Visiting Maui, Kaua'i, and both sides of The Big Island, it is a fantastic itinerary, including a two-day stop in Maui (arriving 8:00 a.m. one day and not departing until 5:30 p.m. the next day), and arriving in Kaua'i at 8:00 a..m one day and not departing until 1:30 p.m. the next day.

Sally and Jeanne did a mix of shipboard shore excursions (Volcanoes National Park Tour and The Kona Coast and Parker Ranch), and rented a car in both Maui and Kaua'i.  It was a great way to see so much, including a stop at K-Mart!  Sally's superior driving skills were most welcome on the road to Hana in Maui, a series of twists and turns on a road carved out of the cliff-side of the island, with many switchbacks and one-lane bridges.  Daring!

It was a wonderful opportunity to also experience Norwegian Cruise Lines' unique "freestyle" type of cruising; not only the main dining room (set-time dining or arrive whenever you want to), but various other venues scattered aboard the ship, like an Italian Kitchen, luxury steak house, Japanese steak-house performance dining, and a Mexican/South American themed restaurant, to name a few.  Even the self-serve buffet served steak and shrimp dinners on select days!  Some of the dining choices had an extra fee of up to $20.00 per person, but you could still cruise the week without paying any supplements unless you wanted to try to various specialty restaurants.  We admit, it takes a little while to get the hang of getting up each morning and making dining reservations (can only be made 24 hours in advance), but once you begin to think of the cruise as a floating resort, rather than a standard cruise, it's a wonderfully free-ing experience!  There were still shows, activities, lounges, and the usual cruise fare, but as their daily activity sheet said "you're free to whatever!".  Call Jeanne or Sally to talk about this fantastic opportunity for you
